Developing my Online Newspaper

It has certainly been one of those weeks here, a full schedule and a balancing act between work and family. However developing my online newspaper, Working From Home News, still continues albeit more slowly.

Working From Home News Web Design

Web design has been a matter of making a decision about whether to use a background image or to remain with a plain colour or stay completely neutral with white. My concern is to give the paper a completely new look therefore I decided upon a background image.  With this in place it created as a base colour to build and create a site with colours, fonts and images to complement the background.

YORGOO Press Newscast Theme

Working From Home News is based on the new YORGOO Press Newscast theme which profits from best SEO from Semiomantics which means high visibility and performance on search engine such as Google. For  details about the latest Newscast theme click Here.

Online Newspaper

With the forthcoming YORGOO Press seminar this weekend, the week has been spent in evaluating the performance of Working From Home News, my online newspaper. This online newspaper was set up almost 2years ago to work alongside my publishing network as an aggregator for news distribution.

Over the past few years the internet environment has developed and evolved. Anyone who  has been online for a few years will notice the new trend online, its all about audio and visual communication, everything is just more media orientated than it was a few years ago. With this in mind it is time to give Working From Home a lift with a completely new look that is adapted to this evolution.

Planning My Online Newspaper

Sitting back and looking at the layout of the old publication I realise its time to adapt to the present day and change the structure of the newspaper to better serve the purpose of this online newspaper.

The layout will consist of five main categories; categories to include outside contibutors to the newspaper and categories for commercial interest. As the site will be more media orientated there will also be the photo and video galleries.

Working From Home Online Newspaper

The website is built on latest Semiomantics NewsCast utilising cutting edge technology and finely tuned to benefit both the customer and the seller and the focus of Working From Home Online Newspaper remains the same as before, to increase visibility and impact on Google.

Editing Photos Exercise

By Zo Nicholas

Editing Photos Exercise

Today turned out to be a stunning day weather wise - a warm breeze, lots of sunshine with long wispy clouds overhead; a day to just go outside and enjoy!  After the heavy downpour we had overnight the flowers in the garden took on a new lustre,  just shouting to be photographed. So out came the faithfull Nikon Coolpix.

Following up on the ‘Editing Photos Exercise’   that took place last week and the preparing  of  images for the new Stock Media Photo site I added all the photos that were taken with my digital camera to Lightroom3 where they would be edited.

Editing Photos of Flowers

Editing Photos Exercise

One of the photos that stood out most for me was that taken today was that  of the Cyclamen, a most beautiful flower with its tall stems,  fiery red twisted petals and variegated foliage. Stunning!b  Beloved by  both florists and gardeners. Rather than keep  my Cyclamen in a pot I prefer to see it growing in the garden among all the other flowers.

In Lightroom started the editing process with just a touch of tone, adding a touch of brightness and contrast, tweak of clarity and a little more depth in the shadows. Every flower deserves unique attention as so much depends on the time of day the image was taken, camera settings and the light.
